On Friday, September 1st, 2017 we held our Luau party for the residents here at The Heritage Downtown!  The festivities got underway at 4:00, and even though the party was originally planned for outside, the 110-degree heat brought us into the lobby area!  Everyone had a wonderful time and the food and entertainment were incredible!

As part of the Luau, we provided traditional hula dancing and music! The two Hawaiian Dancers, along with the musicians, were from “Island Breeze Entertainment” based out of Santa Cruz, CA. The performance was a combination of music (bongos, ukulele) and dancing, while the dancers also gave information on the history of Luau and hula dancing.
Towards the end, the dancers brought up a few of our residents who volunteered, and walked them through various dance movements, finishing with a big number with all of the volunteers dancing with the hula dancers in a full number!
A very special menu included Teriyaki BBQ Short Ribs served with Steamed Rice and Coleslaw and Pineapple Coconut Cake for dessert!
